Time travel in a decade someone is serious

I'll believe this when I see it. Whats the bet that if its true Mallett will disappear into the military establishment, and never heard of again.

The potential for trouble is enormous. For example I remember reading that one of the greatest leaders of the crusades, who could have saved western domination in Israel, died when he got drunk and fell out of a window.

If such a minor event could have been prevented, close the window, stop him from falling, then who knows from that small change what our world would be like. That small incidence could be repeated a zillion times.

How about some antibiotics added to the food for Alexander the Great, who picked up a disease from a marsh mosquito? What could he have gone on to do instead of dying at 36?

With a brilliant idea and equations based on Einstein’s relativity theories, Ronald Mallett from the University of Connecticut has devised an experiment to observe a time traveling neutron in a circulating light beam.

While his team still needs funding for the project, Mallett calculates that the possibility of time travel using this method could be verified within a decade.

Black holes, wormholes, and cosmic strings – each of these phenomena has been proposed as a method for time travel, but none seem feasible, for (at least) one major reason. Although theoretically they could distort space-time, they all require an unthinkably gigantic amount of mass.

Mallett, a U Conn Physics Professor for 30 years, considered an alternative to these time travel methods based on Einstein’s famous relativity equation: E=mc2.

... Quote:
Einstein showed that mass and energy are the same thing. The time machine we’ve designed uses light in the form of circulating lasers to warp or loop time instead of using massive objects.

... said Mallett, who published his first research on time travel in 2000 in Physics Letters.

If somebody goes back and closes that window, would there ever have been a timeline where he fell out the window in the first place???
How would we even know if the original timeline had the window closed and somebody went back and opened it so he fell and the battle was lost?
Would the good doctors space/time tunnel even take him back to the same universe, or into a parallel universe to cater for his attempt to diddle with nature?
Is our understanding of space/time even near the actuality of the mysterious nature of our Universe(s)?
Maybe we don't need to travel thru time, perhaps time travels thru us , and thats about as good as it gets. Just need to send a message back to the fella in the window telling him to "close that window"....he says 'who said that?....did I think that or did somebody just say something?". He leans out the window to see where the voice came from ....and falls to his inescapable fate. Doh. Back to the drawing board.
