Hezbollah to get anti aircraft system from Iran

This war had been planned by Israel for a long time, but the timing is interesting and these articles may shed some light on it. This will certianly raise the stakes, if Israel starts to lose planes then it may move to stronger munitions, and may even try to take out the source of the equipment.

Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - Hezbollah has received a positive reply from Iran to its request to be supplied with advanced anti-aircraft missile systems for use against Israeli forces, according to a Jane's Defense Weekly report published Friday.

Jane's wrote that in a high-level meeting last month, Hezbollah asked its Iranian sponsors to "accelerate and extend the scope of weapon shipments from Iran to the Islamic Resistance, particularly advanced missiles against ground and air targets."

The report added, "Iranian authorities conveyed a message to the Hezbollah leadership that their forces would continue to receive a steady supply of weapons systems."

Iran is already believed to have supplied Hezbollah with highly-advanced anti-ship missiles, one of which crippled an Israeli corvette off the coast of Lebanon during the opening days of the current crisis.

But Hezbollah has thus far had no answer to Israeli air power, which continues to pound targets throughout Lebanon unhindered by any viable air defenses. According to Jane's, a shipment of Russian-made surface-to-air missile systems is expected in the coming weeks to address that issue.

Israel's vaunted Merkava main battle tank has also fallen victim to sophisticated and powerful anti-tank missiles being used by the terror group. Most of the more than 50 Israeli soldiers killed in conflict have been casualties of anti-tank missile attacks.

Speaking to the AP, a senior retired military intelligence officer, Yossi Kuperwasser, said that Hezbollah possesses "some of the most advanced anti-tank missiles in the world."

Added Kuperwasser, "This is not a militia, it's an infantry brigade with all the support units."

Israel fears that failing to meet its military objectives this time around will mean a far more difficult, protracted and bloody battle the next time Hezbollah unleashes its aggression.

It is about time the rest of the world, led by the U.S., went to the source of this - Iran.
This is between militant Shiite Iran and the Western way of life; Israel is not the target only because of it being a state created for the preservation of the Jews, it is also the target because it represents the Western way of life.
Were Ronnie still alive and in the White House we'd be hearing him on the TV, explaining how good will triumph over evil, how strong men will do hard work, and how a couple carrier groups are steaming full speed to the region.

Or maybe some F-111's would be helping Tehran understand that nobody needs this crap!
