Rich Dad Poor Dad author a fraud

Not only did "rich dad" not exist, but the writer of the books on how to get rich - Robert Kiyosaki - is a bankrupt Amway salesman.

It is very difficult to find a clear, reliable background on Robert Kiyosaki, but here’s what’s easily verifiable about him. He was involved in several business deals (most notably, nylon Velcro wallets) in the 1970s and 1980s which fell apart, leaving him bankrupt in the mid-1980s.

In this timeframe, he became heavily involved with Amway, a multi-level marketing system, and began to cultivate relationships with many of the “top” members. In 1985, Kiyosaki founded Cashflow Technologies, a company that was designed to pitch a series of books and other educational materials that eventually evolved into Rich Dad, Poor Dad.

Whats worse is that the books philosophy is flawed and will lead to failure.

Just goes to show you can't believe what you read, I had skimmed the books in the bookshop yet never bought any because I couldn't see a clear path to success with them.

Another reviewer of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" dislikes Robert Kiyosaki as well.

I was unpleasantly surprised. I do not like his book at all. Over time, I have received numerous reports that Kiyosaki is primarily a creature of Amway (now Quixtar) and other multi-level marketing organizations. Reportedly, his books were not selling until he allied himself with that crowd. Then the volume of sales to those MLM guys made him a “best-selling author,” which caused normal non-MLM people to think the book must be good.
