Paul Potts sings opera on British version of American Idol

British Idol? Amazing video, the crowd go nuts, some are moved to tears, (and thats because he is so good ). Well worth seeing, if just for the judges expressions and the audience reactions.

Double Click on the video to see it run (they turned off embedding)

I think this is the translation (but who needs it, the power is in the singing not the words)

Let no one sleep!... Let no one sleep! Even you, o Princess, in your cold room, watch the stars, that tremble with love and with hope.
But my secret is hidden within me, my name no one shall know... No!...No!... On your mouth I will tell it when the light shines.
And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!...

No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.

Vanish, o night! Set, stars! At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win!

Here is Paul Potts online talking about his auditions

Well I got through again, Simon Cowell said that I shocked him with how good my voice was - he felt that my actual image was terrible though he said that my clothes weret oo big for me (in fact the jacket was actually too small for me!!!) Amanda Holden more or less said the same, Piers Morgan said that he didn't care if I came on naked if I sang like that, and that if I continued like this, I would be one of the favourites to win the whole thing!

They actually allowed me to use my backing track so I was much happier although I was still a little shaky at the start. The audience were impressed: got a standing ovation which was awesome.

Basically the way the format is going to work is that the show is going to be screened in June, and the live shows will be shown every night for approx 8 days

Paul Potts singing in the semi finals

Here is an overview from the company he works for..

Video about Paul Potts and his song in the Semi Finals, Paul got another standing ovation

(one person noted that the quality of the video sound was less than being there)

He won :)
He sang the first song again, a longer version, but this time everyone was expecting him, and the shock factor was missing.

They basically told him he had won as soon as he stopped singing, so much for having to confer and judge them all, he must have just overwhelmed the others.

Still, its great that someone with real talent and ability was selected.
