Canadian SeaKing helicopter song

Halifax — A mock ballad, citing the mechanical troubles of Canada's aging Sea King helicopters, is making the rounds of the military.

The song, imitating the tune and lyrics of the 1970s hit Seasons in the Sun, talks of the fears of crew members who must fly the often-unreliable Sea Kings.

"Goodbye papa, please pray for me,/ my helicopter's crashing in the sea," begins the ballad, being distributed via e-mail.

"I honestly don't mean to pout/ but my future is in doubt,/ my co-pilot just fell out."

Earlier this fall, a series of mock recruitment-style posters were distributed electronically among military members, also parodying the mechanical problems of the Sea Kings.

One poster, showing a crashed Sea King on its side, carried the slogan: "It's more than a career, it's an adventure."

Defence Minister John McCallum said at the time he was not amused by the posters.

Nine years ago, Prime Minister Jean Chrétien cancelled a deal to replace the 1960s- era Sea Kings. No replacements have been ordered since, despite repeated promises to do so.

Good bye papa please pray for me
My helicopter's crashing in the sea.
I honestly don't mean to poke
But my future is in doubt
My co-pilot just fell out

Good bye papa it's hard to fly
When my air frame's cracking in the sky
For every hour in the air
It takes some thirty to repair
We fly these things on a dare

We had joy we had fun
We had sea kings in the sun
But the engines are on fire
And the sea kings must retire

Good bye good chair my stingy one
You could have bought the E-age warner ones
Instead you blew five hundred mil
Just to cancel out the bill
Now I need an airsick pill.

We had joy we had fun
We had sea kings in the sun
We'll be lucky if we reach
A crash landing on the beach.

Those are the wrong lyrics..
the real lyrics are...

Sea Kings in the Sun

Good bye papa please pray for me
My helicopter's crashing in the sea.
I honestly don't mean to pout
But my future is in doubt
My co-pilot just fell out

Good bye papa it's hard to fly
When my air frame's cracking in the sky
For every hour in the air
It takes them thirty to repair
We fly these things on a dare

We've had joy we've had fun
We've had sea kings in the sun
But the engines are on fire
And the sea kings must retire

Good bye Chretien my stingy one
You could have bought the E-H 101
Instead you blew five hundred mil
Just to cancel out the bill
Now I need an airsick pill.

We've had joy we've had fun
We've had sea kings in the sun
We'll be lucky if we reach
A crash landing on the beach.

Just thought I'd correct you! =] :ws
