Canadian Leopard Tanks in Afghanistan

Ma'Sum Ghar, Afghanistan. Soldiers from the Lord Strathcona's Horse ready their Leopard tank for patrol near the Canadian Forward Operations Base (FOB), Ma'sum Ghar, Afghanistan.

This Leopard tank is equipped with a thermal blanket on the turret. The thermal blanket is designed to reflect heat away from the tank and keep the crew compartment cooler.

You get a sence of how big these things are when you seen an engine from the leopard.

Well teven thought the thermal blanket is a good idea I dont know how much real protection it would offer because even if you do cover the turrent you will still get lots of conductive heating from the other parts. with the tank running, there could be lots of additional heat generated as well.
