The AA-12 miltary shotgun video also talks about the Frag 12 a new shotgun shell - comes in armour piercing, high explosive, and fragmentation grenade. Range is 175 meters well beyond the expected range of a shotgun shell.

When it leaves the barrel the frag 12 arms itself and detonates on impact. making it act like a minature grenade launcher.
