New Zealand spending on culture and recreation third highest in the world
Now here is a figure to be proud of. New Zelanders spend the third highest amout in the world as a percent of the GDP on culture and recreation. I
guess that accounts for all the bikes, boats and outdoor gear everyone has.
These statistics are inversely proportional to how good the TV is in each country.
Also look at how much the government spends on recreation and culture as well. Iceland is far ahead of the rest.
ICELAND spends proportionately more on culture and recreation than other rich countries, with private and public spending together touching 10% of
GDP. Its government lavishes over twice as much as others on providing sports, arts and recreational facilities for its citizens.
I guess when you live in a place with so many out door opportunities like NZ you'd be labeled a shut-in if you lived normally without the
Its kind of the same here in NY. There is no such thing as adventure sports like most suburbs enjoy. Simple hikes, treks, hunting etc are exotic . The
most common form of recreation if drinking oneself under the table .

When I lived in London I knew a guy who wanted to emigrate to NZ, but he didn't know if he could cope with doing things outside.
I think its partly to do with our terrible Television.
