WW2 footage of captured Zero fighter and other planes

Fascinating video of the allies with a captured Japanese Zero fighter. Also other wrecked fighters and allied planes. Unique video, I have never seen it before.

A second video talking about the Japanese Zero WW2 fighter. Faster than the P40, with a longer range, more heavily gunned, and lighter, it was a plane that surpassed the Allies.

After capturing an intact plane in Alaska (!) in 1942 the American air force found its weaknesses. Because of its low weight it couldn't dive as fast and had no armor.

Well the Zero was really cool aircraft. So was the Supermarine spitfire. Despite the Axis powers joining together they never shared technology like the Aliies did. It would have scared the pants off Spitfire pilots to find Zeros over Europe if the Nazi's got hold of them instead of using their antiquated Fokker Wolf's.

Even thought the Japanese were barbaric and brutal in WW2 and were the aggressors, I cant help but appreciate their single minded determination they put into anything they did. I wonder if America had been on the opposite side, with the imminent prospect of loosing the war with Japan if American pilots would have chosen to go Kamakazi.

Regardless of what individual pilots might have felt compelled to do in the heat of battle, suicide would never have been governmental policy as was with the Japanese. Of that I am certain. The differences in cultures are clear.
