Personal flight pack almost ready for launch - video

Last year a Mew Zealand derived company, Martin Jetpack showed a video of the twin-fanned flier that wasn't quite ready to take to the skies, hovering just a couple of feet off the ground, and always with two especially attentive attendants walking alongside, ready to snag it if something went awry.

Nine months later look at it now, capable of accurate control, and it's said to fly for 30 minutes at 60 mph, and travel a distance of 8000 feet.

The Martin Jetpack is capable of 30 minutes of flight at 60 mph and 8,000 feet, which is more than enough for your commute.

It doesnít technically require a pilotís license, and has just two primary controls: left joystick controls pitch and roll, right joystick controls yaw and throttle. It runs on standard automotive fuel, too. The cost? Only about $100,000, and the first 10 units should be delivered sometime this year.

I imagine with some computer controlled avionics, to stabilize the machine under winds, and help direct flying, would make it a great toy to use.
