Micro surveillance helicopter uses laser to map environment

The latest Micro Air Vehicle from MIT does an incredible job of balancing itself in-air. The helicopter also models it's surroundings using lasers and 3D cameras.

The team built a vision engine that can very accurately define the helicopter's surrounding environment, along with flight path correction.

Micro helicopter uses lasers to scan a room and identify features such as windows then move through them. Are we seeing the first primitive surveillance droids?
