illegal and an automatic out. As far as having rights to the basepath, if the catcher has the ball HE has full right to block the plate and if the
runner tries to bowl him over, he' s not only out, but ejected for malicious contact. If you use NHFS rules, check rule 8-4-2b, c, and d. I withdraw
my comment about the ejection for the dive. He would just be out.
